Use the new ODETTE Communication Protocol with SEEBURGER OFTP2 Solutions
OFTP2 is the new communications protocol developed by ODETTE (Organization for Data Exchange by Tele Transmission in Europe) to standardize EDI communication in the automotive industry, it will replace x.25 and ISDN communication. OFTP2 enables companies to use the Internet for cost-effective transfer of business data, e.g. delivery schedules or credit notes, and also enables companies to respond to the mounting cost pressure in the automotive industry. The protocol allows for a much faster transfer of data by using bandwidth available over the Internet and also gives the security of point-to-point data transfer that of OFTPv1, furthermore, with OFTP2 the file size restrictions that are often associated with other protocols are a thing of the past.
OFTP2 solutions - Easy and rapid implementation
Based on experience gained from successful projects such as Volvo’s OFTP2 roll-out, SEEBURGER has developed ODETTE-certified OFTP2 solutions that enable companies to satisfy the requirements of large OEMs regardless of which EDI system they are currently using:
OFTP2:Connect – as a front end for an existing EDI system
This solution was developed for all EDI systems that do not support OFTP2 – no matter whether they are SEEBURGER solutions or third-party solutions. The integration between the existing EDI system and OFTP2:Connect is achieved by file transfer and the data continues to be integrated into the ERP system through the existing EDI system. It can also be used to communicate with those partners who have not yet implemented OFTP2.
BIS:Express – offers direct ERP integration
BIS:Express works independently of the existing EDI system and is directly connected to the ERP system. This connection is established either through file transfer other file transfer protocols (AS2, FTP, etc.). As with OFTP2:Connect, the existing EDI system will be used to exchange data with partners who have not yet implemented OFTP2.
OFTP2:Clearing – SEEBURGER clearing service
SEEBURGER has developed its clearing service OFTP2:Clearing to accommodate customers who do not want to purchase a separate system for their OFTP2 communications. OFTP2:Clearing will provide a fast and easy path to OFTP2.
