An integration platform must be available 24/7. The operation of such a platform requires a team of specialists who are able to solve all kinds of process-related problems.
The advantages of an integration platform in the SEEBURGER Cloud:
With the SEEBURGER Business Integration Suite you have all options. It is available in several different operating models. A distinction is made between the technical operation of the integration platform (operation of the infrastructure, maintenance of the database, security updates, installation of new releases, monitoring of the platform 24/7) and the functional operation (setup and maintenance of business-relevant mappings and processes):
The same integration tools are available regardless of the selected operating model. Here we present the most important operating models available.
In this operating model, the company acquires the integration platform and operates it on its own hardware. Operation and support are provided by the company, but can also be delegated to a hosting partner. Own operation offers the company a high degree of flexibility in order to be able to react quickly and independently if required, but is associated with high personnel and financial costs if operation must be guaranteed 24/7. Sometimes company policy dictates that no data is given to third parties. In this case, in-house operation is the only option and the development of comprehensive know-how is necessary.
This operating model offers companies that have decided to operate the integration platform "On-Premise" on their own the option of having SEEBURGER provide individual operating services remotely. The most important operating services are:Remote Alerting: a 24/7 cloud service that proactively and automatically monitors the “On-Premises” integration platform at regular intervals.Remote management: this is the provision of additional operational SEEBURGER employees on the basis of existing support contracts. This makes sense for companies who want to improve their service levels without increasing their in-house IT departments or who need technical support for a transitional period.
In the iPaaS operating model (Integration Platform as a Service), the integration platform is operated in the cloud. SEEBURGER takes over all tasks required for the secure and highly available operation of the integration platform. Whether data center operation, database maintenance, security updates, installation of new releases or 24/7 monitoring of the platform - in short: SEEBURGER takes care of the annoying duties.
Companies, on the other hand, can concentrate more on their core tasks, manage business-relevant mappings and processes and use the platform as if it was their own. Irrespective of the high flexibility with regard to their core processes, companies benefit from a higher degree of standardization, security and availability compared to their own operations by embedding them in a professional operation. These features predestine the iPaaS model especially for larger companies.
With the B2B/EDI Full Service, SEEBURGER offers fast and secure transmission of high-quality data as an all-in-one, worry-free package in the cloud. Due to its higher degree of standardization, the model is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized companies whose IT departments are often unable to use the integration platform in terms of time, technology or functionality.
Companies delegate their entire data interchange to SEEBURGER and often do not even want access to the integration platform operated for them. Instead, they limit themselves to providing the data to be exchanged in a structured format such as ASCII, CSV or XML and are otherwise content with a monitoring view of the exchanged data and monthly reports on the exchanged data volume.
The Communication Service is less an operating model than a standardized public cloud service that can be used by SEEBURGER BIS but also by third-party integration platforms. The service covers a special but labour-intensive sub-functionality of typical integration platforms: technical communication with business partners via various communication protocols.
Every large company has business relationships with hundreds of business partners, all of whom must be technically connected to the integration platform. Changed connection master data, temporary technical unavailability of business partners and regularly expiring digital certificates of business partners mean a permanent base load for your own operating team, from which the Communication Service largely frees you. The service is suitable for companies of all sizes who would like to leave the technical dispatch and receipt of messages to specialists.
Experience has shown that mixed operating models often prove successful and are preferred by organizations where certain integration tasks are performed publicly via a public cloud, while other data protection-critical integration tasks are performed either on-premise in the company's own data center or in a private cloud environment as part of the iPaaS operating model. The advantages are obvious: companies benefit on the one hand from a higher flexibility of the operating models on-premise or iPaaS and on the other hand from an optimized economic efficiency through standardized public cloud services. A good example of this is the Communication Service mentioned above.
